Miroslava Duma

This woman to me is just a style icon.
Every picture, every outfit, every bit of make up is always just perfect.
Being the daughter of a Russian senator she always had to look well for the public,
but this woman went far beyond looking well for the public.
The 25 year old already has her own charity called Mira's Planet.
Going from being an editor for Harpers Magazine(Russia) to writing for multiple
magazines such as OK magazine(Russian), Tatler, Glamour(Russia).
Now a mother for 2 years, this woman isn't giving in the the usual motherly role
and giving up her style. With favorite designers such as Miu Miu,
Prada, YSL, Lanvin and Alexander Wang.

Below are just some of her amazing looks.

Pro Choice

So this post is completely not to do with any of my usual posts but I felt like I should
bring it up as it's something I've been thinking about ever sicne it arose a few days ago.
There has been a lot of buzz around Ireland over the past few days considering
abortion and whether it should be legalized or just legal in some cases or
should the church still have an influence on government and some of its actions.

It all started when on 28th of October a young woman called Savita
Halappanavar (above) died of septicaemia caused by a fetus she
was carrying that was miscarrying and would never survive. The doctors
knew this and knew that if they didn't remove the fetus, Savita would not
survive but because of Irish law the doctors couldn't do anything and Savita died.

I myself believe that abortion should be legal in some cases. Cases like
Savitas should always be allowed to have the fetus aborted, so should be
the case with woman who are raped and do not wish to carry the child.
Here's where abortion gets complicated for me, for girls who go around
having sex every man out there and thinking it's fine because the have
the back up of the morning after pill or abortion. It's people like that, that make
me think if abortion is brought in it should be heavily regulated.

Also another thing which my dad said to me which is very true, if a woman
wanted to have a child but the father wanted to keep it, the child would
be aborted, but if the woman wanted to keep it and the father wanted
aborted, the child would be born and the father would have to pay for the
child for years. So in both cases the father has no choice which as far as I
know has been the case in any country abortion has been brought in which
is outrageous to me as I feel the father should have a choice.

To rap things up my opinion is abortion should be legalizes but heavily regulated
so people cannot abuse the fact that its there.

Comment below with your own opinions on this subject.

Baroque Trend.

So this is a trend I absolutely love. The Baroque style started in the 1600's in Rome and spread throughout Europe and has been evident in fashion a lot lately.
Having always been a a main part of Versace, it is now spreading through out the high
street and I am delighted with this as it's something just so elegant that you
just have to look at each design and wonder how every one can be so alike, yet so different.

With it now in stores from Topshop to Zara & big in River Island, and also a
range in Topman for men (Which i will be purchasing as soon as i get my
hands on some money.) it has just been gaining more attention as time goes
on.I do not feel that this is just a short lived trend, but one that will be here for a
few years and will live on after the trend ends in the styles of Versace.

The embellished gold tops, the sparkle gold stitching's to the hard & bright colours
all works very well together to make this trend one of my top picks over the next few months.

Bellow are some of my favorite pieces
with details below.

Trousers, collar & purse - River Island.
Bomber jacket - Topshop.
Mens blue & Gold shirt - Topman.

My November Needs.

So as it's coming into winter most of the thing's I will be buying will
be bought not just to keep me warm, but also to make sure I'm
on trend with the current Gothic, futuristic and military trends. Also now
that I have my job back in River Island I shall be buying more and
more clothes so there will be more hauls to come this month.

First is this khaki Green parka from River Island.

Next is this 80's boho jumper from Asos Marketplace

I really want to get my first leather jacket but I have to be very careful as it's very
hard to find one to suit each person. This is one I like also from Asos Marketplace.
Any thoughts ?

These studded pocket burgundy jeans from Zara I think are just amazing.

I also really want to get some Brogues as I'm seeing them everywhere now.
These navy Brogues from River Island I think are pretty great.
These studded monk-strap boots from Zara were also pretty cool.
Last but not least accessories all from Topman as I just love all accessories from there.
Most of them tying in with the gothic trend.

Marina & The Diamonds

Words cannot describe how much I love this woman. Marina Diamandis, more commonly known as Marina & The Diamonds has this absolute perfection about her.
Her style is not like most others, which when asked herself how to describe it she
could do so in three words "Vintage, cheerleader and cartoon".
She herself looks to DJ/model Laigh Lazerk, singer Gwen Stefani saying she is "cartoonized but in a very fresh way".

Sometimes making her own creations from different things she finds in Charity shops, or other times taking a pick from her large collection of vintage cheer jackets. When not picking from these, or creating her own look, she has been seen wearing clothes by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Laura Mackness, Beyond Retro, Motel Rocks,Jervoise Jackets amongst others.

Having admitting she would like to do something in fashion
other than designing, but more along the lines of something behind the
scenes, I believe Marina will only be a more familiar face in the fashion world.

Bullying.

So this is a post which is very close to my heart. In the last few years bullying seems to be getting worse and worse, with more people being bullied and in more sever ways leading to extremely sad & unfortunate endings.

When I was younger I was bullied over multiple things being gay was the main one. From primary school, when it was worst, til this very day. Nowadays it's not as bad as what it was but I went through very bad patch's in the past.

It was at it's worst for me when I was in Secondary School (High School) I would be called multiple names & at lunch I would go to my group of friends but sometimes if my close friends weren't there ( would go  eat my lunch in the cubicle in the bathrooms by myself & I would go home some days, crying myself to sleep & at one point in my life I even contemplated suicide.

After that point in my life I made sure I would never feel like that again. I look at everything in a positive light. I realised how lucky I was to even be alive & how I took it for granted that I had the life that I had. No it wasn't all luxury & stuff but I had it better then most people in this world.

I have empathy towards bullies because I think, they must have been in such a bad bad place to make them like this. To make them be so mean to others & not feel sad or sorry for it. After I was bullied I also went through a phase were I was beginning to be mean to others without even realizing that I was being mean. Then I realised how I was to some people & realised why I have started being like that.

Since then I have been trying to make sure I amen't mean to people & when I am I make sure I apologize.

I've also had many friend who have been in very bad places where they've self harmed & tried to take there life. Every time I've heard about it I've tried my best to help each one through what they were going through mentally.

It's sad that bullying does go on & I do think it should be stopped, but not just by stopping the bully who is doing the bullying, but also by trying to stop what has made the bully the way he is.

I also feel like people who are in a bad place should know that everything changes. What they go through as a teenager is not what they go through as they grow up. Yes at the time they/we feel like it's the end of the world at that time, but you're life will get so much better  You just need to surround yourself by people you love & are the type of people that will be there for you & you can be there for.

IT GETS BETTER.

M.I.A.

The singer, rapper, painter & producer who began her career in 2000 and since
has grown and grown with no time to look back. 3 albums & 21 singles later
M.I.A. is a style icon, trendsetter and trailblazer worldwide, having
been name 1 of Vogues 10 best dressed in '08 & being able to turn down
being in Peoples top 50 dressed in the same year, this woman is one person
you should ALWAYS look to if needing to know what is in & what is out.

Having brought out her own small line for New York's fashion week in '08,
but nothing since, I feel there will be something coming again in the next few years
from this amazing woman. During her Arura era, her style was described as
'tattered hand me downs and patched T-shirts of indigents', then in her Kala she built on
this is baggy T-shirts, leggings & short-shorts. Now she has moved to incorporating
eccentric accessories with bold patterns, sparkle and over saturated neon
colours to fashion her signature style which have inspired endless amounts of
"garishly-clothed all-to-sassy" new rave girls with bright red tights, cheetah-skin
smock and faded 1980's T-shirts.

Peter O'Brien for Arnotts

It's the third time Peter O'Brien has partnered up with Arnotts to do such a collection.
In a capsule collection of 28 looks all showing of Peters signature design. Both
masculine & feminine collide with both military & flirty designs. This year Peter added
Donegal 'Magee' tweed to the fabric mix to add a more Irish element to this Irish
collaboration. This year the pieces are a lot more loose as Peter says "I got very tired of everything being so tight fitted", also stating that tight clothes look old fashioned.

When asked what he likes most about designing a new collection Peter responds-
"I like the designing process and I like the fitting process and I like
to see the samples come in, the actual show thing I've never liked it"

My personal favorites are the long tanned coat & the high-waisted
long legged black trousers. Also the Magee tweed skirt is a
great way to bring Irish tradition to fashion in a modern way.

All items are available in sizes 8-16, and are priced from €150-€495.
Make up was very natural with just a hint of eye shadow, mascara and
a red stain of colour for the lips.
Hair done by top stylist Michael Leong was also on hand to do the hair.

Twitter Meet Up

Off the topic of style & fashion, but I felt I HAD to post about it. Yesterday I went to
a twitter meet up in the city center which had to have one of the
best days of my life. Everybody there was so nice and so sexy and just all over great.
There were people peeing themselves, people puking, people collapsing, and mostly just
people having a lot of fun.

To tie it back in with style, so many people there were dressed SO well.
From grunge, to preppy & everything in between. Below are some pictures & the
video that reveals how messy the day was.

Enjoy.
